SG Coatings feature in Mornington Peninsula’s Support Local Campaign

What is the Support Local Campaign?

2020 was a difficult year for many local businesses on the Peninsula, sadly with a lot of job losses, projects paused and doors closed. With the Victorian Government announcing such significant changes and restrictions on how we operate to slow the spread of COVID-19, we all had to pivot, change direction and proceed with caution.Last year the Mornington Peninsula Shire released comprehensive plans to support local businesses that have been doing it tough throughout COVID-19. The Shire put word out requesting the help of the locals in creating a new campaign to support businesses in our own backyards.MP Mayor Sam Hearn who represents the Briars Ward has stated: “We’ve been working intensely with local businesses… Recovery will be a long haul and we will continue look at what we can do as a Shire to help accelerate our economy out of this crisis.”

SG Coatings did not hesitate to offer to help out with the Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Support Local Campaign in order to help create more sales, more jobs and long-term sustainable businesses on the Mornington Peninsula. When Sophie was given the opportunity to be involved in the Support Local Campaign run by the Mornington Peninsula Shire, she jumped at the chance to give back to the very people who had supported her throughout the pandemic last year.

Why SG Coatings?

Owner of Painting Company SG Coatings, Sophie Grover, is passionate about providing the best in professional painting services local to the Peninsula, delivering an abundance of beautiful painting projects across Mornington, Red Hill, Rye, Mt Eliza, Sorrento and surrounds. SG Coatings have been painting homes and business since 2014 and are well known for their approachable attitude, attention to detail and impressive high-quality outcomes on each and every project.

Eager to support the plans of the Peninsula, Sophie had a chat with members of the Mornington Peninsula Shire Economic Development team, and soon after Sophie and her team of lovely ladies were selected for a documentary style photoshoot of the team working on a local home.

The Mornington Peninsula Shire Economic Development team and the photographer attended the Mornington Peninsula residence that Sophie and her team were already working on in January. The homeowner was also excited to be involved, signing off on all the necessary paperwork for the photoshoot to proceed and be published. The SG Coatings team continued to paint the exterior of the home while the photographer worked her magic, creating some gorgeous imagery to feature the talent of some of our local tradies.

Sophie has said “We were stoked to be involved in the Support Local Campaign! All it took was a couple of photos while we were working on a property on the Peninsula. If a few photos can inspire people to shop locally for a professional tradie, retail shop or one of the many services offered on the Peninsula then we were happy to help!”

Since COVID-19 restrictions were lifted Sophie has doubled her team, hiring another 4 local staff to help with the increase in demand. Like many other tradespeople in the construction industry in the Mornington region, SG Coatings is back on track with plans to recoup some of the lost time last year caused by the pandemic. “It has been a crazy year with a lot of ups and downs, but how lucky are we to have a community that has a plan to help each other create more business?!”
